Concrete Pump Cleaning

Cleaning concrete pumps is an important step in ensuring the normal operation of equipment and extending its service life. The following are specific methods and precautions for cleaning concrete pumps.

Steps For Concrete Pump Cleaning

he washing process of concrete pump is a key step to ensure the cleanliness and smoothness of the pumping system so that the pumping operation can be carried out smoothly the next time be used. The following are the detailed steps of the concrete pump washing process.

Preparation For Concrete Pump Cleaning

  • Power Off and Shutdown

First, cut off the power supple of the concrete pup and ensure that the equipment is in a shutdown state to prevent accident start-up during the cleaning process.

  • Clean Up the Residue

Clean up the concrete residue in the delivery cylinder, hopper bottom and discharge port of the concrete pump to reduce the workload of cleaning.

  • Check the Sealing

Check the sealing of the delivery cylinder, hopper and pipeline to ensure that there is not leakage. If there is a leak, it should be repaired in time before cleaning.

  • Prepare Cleaning Tools
remote control

Prepare the tools needed for cleaning, such as water pipes, cleaning balls (or sponge balls), cylindrical cement bags ( if necessary), etc.

Cleaning Process Of Concrete Pump

  • Connect the Water Pipe

Connect the water pipe to the hopper or water inlet of the concrete pump to ensure that the water source is sufficient and continuous.

  • Place the Cleaning Ball

Put the sponge ball soaked in water into the cleaned cone tube (or place it according to the requirements of the equipment manual). The function of the cleaning ball is to help push the water flow and remove the residue in the pipeline.

  • Close the Unloading Hopper Door

Make sure the hopper door is close to prevent the cleaning water from flowing out.

  • Start the Pumping System

Start the pumping system and use the operating pressure of the pump to discharge the concrete, cement bag (or sponge ball) and cleaning ball in the hopper, conveying cylinder and pipeline.

  • Pumping Clean Water

Continue to pump clean water until all the water is discharged. At this point, it can be considered that the pumping system has been cleaned. During the cleaning process, pay attention to the discharged water flow to ensure the cleaning effect.

  • Check the Cleaning Effect

After cleaning, open the unloading hopper door and check whether the conveying cylinder, hopper and pipeline are clean and free of residue. If there is any residue, it should be cleaned again.

Tips of Concrete Pump Cleaning

  • Water Source Requirements

The water source should be sufficient and continuous to ensure the smooth progress of the cleaning process. At the same time, the water quality should be clean and free of impurities to avoid damage to the equipment.

  • Pressure Control

During the cleaning process, the pressure of the pumping system should be controlled within a safe range to avoid damage to the equipment.

  • Prevent Water Pollution

During cleaning, care should be taken not to let the water in the pipeline flow to the concrete pouring site to avoid affecting the quality of the concrete. A collection device can be set at the end of the pipeline or other measures can be taken to collect and treat the cleaning water.

  • Safe Operation

During the cleaning process, attention should be paid to the safe operation of the equipment at all times. If any abnormal phenomenon or sound is found, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection and troubleshooting before cleaning.

By following the above steps and precautions, the water washing process of the concrete pump can be ensure to proceed smoothly and achieve the expected cleaning effect.

Concrete Pump Cleaning Methods

Water Washing Method

The water washing method is the most commonly used method for concrete pump cleaning.

  • Basic Water Washing

After each use of the concrete pump, first rinse the concrete pump pipe interface of the delivery pump with water. Then, open the exhaust hole above the pump tube and pour water out of the pump body. Next, use a high-pressure water gun to thoroughly clean the pump body. After cleaning, ensure that the pump body is dry to prevent rust and corrosion.

  • Mortar Washing

After pumping the concrete, pump 0.15-0.25m3 of mortar with a water cement ratio of 1:1.5 or 1:2. Then, fill the distribution valve with water and start pumping until clear water flows out from the output end of the delivery pipe. This method is suitable for situations where the pipeline is long or the cleaning effect is not very good.

  • Plug Ball Cleaning

Including plug ball cleaning of discharge outlet bent pipe, plug ball cleaning of concrete cylinder, and ball free cleaning. These methods require a small gap between the cutting ring and the eye plate (or the plate valve of the disc valve pump and the tie rod and upper and lower wear-resistant plates), and strict sealing to prevent cleaning water from penetrating forward. When cleaning, be careful not to let the water in the pipeline flow to the pouring site of the concrete, so as not to affect the quality of the concrete.

Air Washing Method

When the water washing method cannot thoroughly clean the concrete pump, the air washing method can be used.
Insert the water soaked cleaning ball into the air inlet cleaning joint first.

Connect a straight pipe connected to the variable diameter and attach a safety cover at the end of the pipeline (the hole of the safety cover must face downwards).

Control the pressure of compressed air to not exceed 0.8MPa and slowly open the air valve. The atmospheric valve can only be opened when the concrete can flow out smoothly.

After the air wash is completed, the air valve should be closed immediately.

Chemical Cleaning Method

For situations where there is a significant amount of viscous concrete residue inside the pump body, chemical cleaning methods can be used. The steps are as follows:

  • Clean up the concrete residue inside the pump body.
  • Add chemical cleaning agents to clean water and mix them in a certain proportion.
  • Pour the mixed cleaning solution into the pump body and stir the cleaning solution thoroughly.
  • The residence time of the cleaning solution is generally about 30 minutes. After the chemical agent in the cleaning solution in the pump body with clean water.
  • After cleaning, make sure that the pump body is dry.
